How to Read the 2019 Scotiabank Giller Prize Shortlist Before the Winner Announcement

October 1, 2019

In case you missed it, we announced the 2019 Scotiabank Giller Prize shortlist yesterday. We are overwhelmed by the incredible feedback we have been receiving. It truly is a wonderful example of the amazing talent we have in Canada.

Every year, we hear from many readers that their goal is to finish the entire shortlist before the winner announcement. We want to help you reach this goal!

We have crunched some numbers and this is how you can make it happen:

  • There are 49 days until the gala on November 18, 2019
  • There are six books on the shortlist
  • There are a total of 1,977 pages to be read

What does this all mean? If you read 40.35 pages every day until November 18, you will have read the entire shortlist!

Join us at one of the Between the Pages events taking place across the country to hear from the 2019 Scotiabank Giller Prize shortlisted authors. All venues are wheelchair accessible and an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will be present.
