  • Bonnie Burnard – Giller Prize winner Bonnie Burnard’s work, including A Good House, quietly and brilliantly celebrated women and their families.

  • Austin Clarke – As we celebrate his achievements, we won’t forget Giller Prize winner Austin Clarke’s voice and spirit.

  • Mavis Gallant – We remember Canadian writer and dedicated Giller Prize juror Mavis Gallant with fondness and reverence.

  • Alistair MacLeod – Alistair MacLeod was a literary giant, unfailingly generous mentor and much beloved friend, husband and father.

  • Alice Munro – To the divine Ms. Alice Munro – congratulations on being named the 2013 recipient of the Nobel Prize for Literature – the first Canadian to win the honour.

  • Ion Trewin – Publisher and writer Ion Trewin had an instinctive eye for a literary hit, and he was key to the success of the Booker prize. He was a friend to the Scotiabank Giller Prize and he will be greatly missed.
